Hello!

My name is Anjeli Leilani Smith, and I’m a portrait, lifestyle, and aspiring wedding/event photographer with a deep love for capturing the unique essence of people and special moments.

I graduated from Boston University in May 2024 with a B.A. in Psychology and minors in Film/TV and Theatre Arts. I moved around a lot growing up—born in Arizona, then lived in Texas, New Jersey, and North Carolina before settling in Maryland, right outside of Washington, D.C. It’s the first place I’ve ever truly called a hometown.

But over time, I’ve redefined what “home” means to me. Now, home is family, self-love, and investing in the passions that bring me joy. Living in alignment with my most authentic self is my guiding principle in life, and it’s the same approach I take with portrait photography.

My favorite part of photography is helping people feel at ease in front of the camera, allowing their most natural and authentic selves to shine through. For me, photography is more than just taking pictures—it’s about capturing the stories, connections, and emotions that make each moment special.

Beyond photography, I’m passionate about music, visual storytelling, and science journalism. I love learning for the sake of learning– talk to me about pretty much anything, and I'll almost definitely be interested in it. I also love cooking and spending quality time with myself, my family, and my friends.
